Led by guitarist, songwriter Abel Sanchez, the Si Se Puede All Star Revue is a cavalcade of veteran artists and musicians that were members of the various bands supporting the movement of Cesar Chavez.
The SSP band was formed to perform in concert with the documentary Song for Cesar “The Music & The Movement”. Made up of a core group and revolving lineup of past & present members of Santana, El Chicano, Tierra, Malo, War, Tower of Power, Sly & the Family Stone, Little Joe & La Familia, Jorge Santana Band, Abel & The Prophets, Azteca, Dakila, Sapo, and many others. These veteran musicians are all part of the documentary as well.
The energy and power this group of veteran artists bring to their performance is as a result of the diverse and rich history they bring to the show. Many events, songs, and music played by these groups along with many other various major artists, became at times aligned with support of the social movements happening in their heyday.
Artists like Joan Baez, Carlos Santana, Kris Kristofferson, Graham Nash, Maya Angelou, Edward James Olmos, Luis and Daniel Valdez, and many others also offered their experience and involvement with Cesar and the movement.
The journey and music of this specific group of artists & musicians many times is associated with, and defined as the soundtrack behind the Cesar Chavez movement and formation of the UFW (United Farm Workers).
While audiences continue to be captivated by the enjoyment of the music and bands of this era, performances by the SSP Revue also reminds listeners of an era containing great times and significant social change. Hearing this power packed lineup of veteran musicians all on one stage together is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Song for Cesar (Story)
Over thirty five years after the impact of Cesar’s movement while in the studio recording, Sanchez recalled the spirit of Cesar Chavez and his mission, AKA “LA CAUSA”. Abel was inspired to write a song dedicated to Cesar Chavez and the struggles of the farm workers and their families. It was from this song “Song for Cesar” that the documentary and the band were born.
Sanchez brought in Jorge Santana (brother of Carlos) to assist in the recording and co-writing of the title song. Many
elements in the creation of this song happened without intention. For
example, when you hear Jorge’s guitar solo in the song, you can hear
the cry of the farm workers and the struggles they endured. Both Sanchez and Santana were extremely excited with the finished piece.
a result of the excitement over the finished work on the song, it was
suggested by friends that they produce a video to go along with the
piece. Abel was introduced to Andres Alegria, film editor, who agreed to
collaborate on producing a short video to coincide with the song.Like Abel and Jorge, Andres was very much a supporter of Cesar’s cause and legacy.
Thus he has brought enormous talent and time to the making of this documentary.
when the pilot piece of the documentary Song for Cesar was completed,
Abel and Jorge began performing at events to promote and celebrate the
documentary work in progress. As a result, the
idea to form a flagship band for all events connected to the documentary

During the making of the documentary, Alegria and Sanchez were led to many great contributors to the movement.
Extremely important was the input and contribution by Dolores Huerta, Co- Founder of the UFW along side Cesar.
